Well, hello there! Thanks for stopping by. Feel free hang out and read the latest Random Buzz going on with me. (and sometimes my writer peeps, too.)
Me? Who am I?: I'm Lisa Albert, aka Lisa Rondinelli Albert, writer of books for children and young adults. My YA novel, MERCY LILY, will debut in Fall 2011 from Flux Books. I'm stoked!! My nonfiction titles with Enslow Publishers include: Lois Lowry: The Giver of Stories & Memories (2007), So You Want to Be a Film or TV Actor? (2008), and Stephenie Meyer: Author of the Twilight Saga (2009).
I write thought-provoking YA, funny MG, picture books, and nonfiction. I’m currently working on a top secret MG novel that is funny with a capital F. "Jimmy" (top secret title), has received very favorable feedback from lots of readers and I'm excited about it. I also have other YA's in the brewing and stewing stage. A not-so-sci-fi medical thriller and a novel-in-verse.
My articles and interviews appear in the 2003 & 2004 editions of the Children’s Writer’s & Illustrator’s Market. I've been a speaker at WI-SCBWI events, ALA Chicago 2009, and schools. 2011 will bring several events so check my calendar tab on my website at www.lisaalbert.com.
I’m a Midwest girl with two teens, one hubby and one dog. I work as a library aide in an K-8 library and it's one of the best jobs a children's writer can have. I was an antiques dealer for over ten years, owned a cleaning company, worked at a bank, was a (cough cough) telemarketing supervisor, and once held a position as a dental assistant for three whole days. I’ve been writing since I was like seven. Seriously. My first rejection came from Cosmopolitan Magazine when I was nineteen. I still have it.
So, that’s me. Glad to meet you and thanks for stopping by!
